So far, GKN has bought the school educational toys and a computer, as well as wall and ceiling mounted fans – which were then installed by GKN volunteers. All these gifts were presented on United Nations Children’s Day (1 June). Volunteers are also due to plaster and paint the school. On 16th June GKN also organised a special outing for the children – with 25 GKN employees accompanying 50 children for a fun morning at the zoo. “It was a great day for the children and adults alike and helped the employees to understand and appreciate these special children even more. Local TV and news journalists covered the event, encouraging more people to get involved in the community,” commented William Lambert, General Manager, GKN Wheels Liuzhou. |
