GKN Mission Everest challenged us to do more for our communities and bring hope to the children of Africa and is a project of which we are all proud of.
During 2007 GKN people contributed an extra $1.7 million to their local communities in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. GKN promised to match the value of the extra community work and fundraising around the Group and has committed $1 million to Africa - $500k in 2007 and $500k more in 2008.
Together we will have contributed $2.7 million to try and help make the world a better place for people in need.
Keeping our promises – that’s the GKN Way.
BackRunning for Mission Everest in Austria
Wolfram Messner, Alexander Silbernagl, Alexander Camporesi, Alfred Elzenbaumer and Erich Lanzinger of GKN Driveline, Bruneck, raised €1,030 for GKN Mission Everest by taking part in a 3km fun run. The event was organised by students from nearby Brixen as part of their college’s on-going assistance for a partner school in Bolivia – as well as to raise money for a project supporting hard-pressed South Tyrolean mountain farmers. Each of the 300 runners donated a Euro for every kilometre – raising a total of €900.
In addition, the GKN runners collected donations towards Mission Everest. They were aided by Ursula Obermair and Manfred Mair who organised a special GKN Mission Everest display tent at the start/finish. This attracted a great deal of interest from spectators and runners – and contributed greatly to the €1,030 raised.
