Base Camp Nepal

The team will fly in to Lukla, a small airstrip at an altitude of 9,000 feet in the foothills of the Himalayas. Helicopters will drop them and all their kit, which will then be portered through the mountains for five days to Base Camp.

Map of Base Camp location

This is in the hills above Namche Bazaar – the gateway to the Everest region – and affords the team the best situation for taking off, landing and approaching Everest, as well as being well situated for re-supplying the camp or in the event of any rescue or emergency operation.
