Changes to the team 20/3/2007
Due to permit issues and limited team places we have had the nightmare situation of having to ask Will to offer up his place on the Team as Logistics manager. This has been very hard. He is a great friend to us all and has been a huge part of putting this attempt together, but we have one space available and it has become more & more apparent as we get closer & closer that we must have a Himalayan experienced, trained paraglider & weather expert actually with us at base camp, rather than just on a radio or satellite phone somewhere. Terry Stubbs will be that man for us, and in order for us to take Terry from Adventure Extreme, Will has offered to step down. It has been a very difficult one this but for our safety it is a vital call.
Terry has taken us through our SIV radical paragliding canopy handling in the Alps and once out in the Himalayas we will need his expertise and weather help out there to combine with the info we are getting live from climbers on Everest. Terry can interpret this into paragliding ‘speak’, he is one of the most experienced Himalayan paraglider pilots in the world and is the best guy to help us get the decision right about when to fly our paramotors so high.
Losing Will is a blow – he is a great friend and really has been instrumental in putting many of the documents for this attempt together behind the scenes. But he is right with us in wanting us to have the right expertise when it matters out there and with limited permit-allowed personnel we have had to take this hard decision.

Hello Bear and team, sounds like it was a hard decision to make right in the thick of it, also sounds like the right one. Thanks for keeping up with the posts and for the interesting video!
Best, Ann and Graham
Thanks Ann and Graham for your support. Bear xSara (20/03/2007 17:49:43)
Dear Bear,Eagerly following your latest exploits! Currently re-reading your books as I'm in the depressing and painful midst of a spinal injury myself, and your words are (apologies for mangling Tolkien!) a light in dark places, when all other lights go out. Thank you Bear. Wishing you and your team all the good luck in the world, please take care. With love, Sara
Many thanks Sara. Hope you make a speedy recovery from your injury. Bear xPete (20/03/2007 17:49:43)
Man that sucks, Will was a trooper on escape to the legion guess its for def for the best tho, safety is always a no.1 priority, can get it right a thousand times, but you'll only get it wrong once, hard but good call, good luck cheers for posting!
Pete.
It most certainly is Pete. Bear xDerek (21/03/2007 01:49:43)
Bear, that has to be a pretty big blow, but if it is for safety it is a great move to have an expert with you. Good luck without Will.
Thanks DerekTravis (24/03/2007 04:49:52)
Hello mate. My co-workers and I all watch the show on Discovery and are inspired by your experiences. When someone asked why no new episodes were on, I pointed them to this site and current expidition. Needless to say, everyone here was amazed and is wishing everyone on your team good luck and a safe return!
Thanks to you and the team Travis for your support. Bear xRusty (27/03/2007 02:49:52)

Hi Bear, my Dad flys a PPG. How long have you been flying and how old do I need to be to start flying (I am 8 now). When will we see your Everest flight on Discovery?

Hey Bear, I was just looking at your website on discovery.com to find out when new episodes of your show air, and I saw that you listed 10 books you would have on a desert island. I've read a couple of them and loved them also, so I thought I could recommend another if you find yourself looking for a new book to read. It's called "The God You Can Know" by Dan DeHaan. You might have already read it, but just in case it's a great read. Anyway, sounds like everything is going great with the everest mission, and I pray everything goes well. God Bless, Collin

Just wanted to wish you tons of luck with the trip (although I feel luck is the wrong word, perhaps success)?
Your so inspiring, at 23 you climb mount Everest. I'm 23 and have suffered the riggers of College & uni and am now a nurse, (not that there's anything wrong with this)! But just starting to realise there's more to life than work....
Cheers Bear, Samantha

Bear man, I take my hat off to you dude, you really know how to live life to the max. It's refreshing to see that, without taking un-necessary risks, it's still possible to live totally on the edge. All power to you Bear, you are an inspiration to every boy who ever read an adventure story, bravo.
Regards to you, your team and your family, enjoy.
