Preparations for leaving for Nepal are underway 21/4/2007

Now there are only 14 days left till the team leave for Nepal. We have now checked all the communications equipment and are confident that it all works and that we can send information back to London in the form of images, video and blogs that will continue to keep you up to date with what is going on.

Physical preparation is also well underway. I have done a lot of Alpine skiing this winter accumulating 20,000 meters worth of altitude distance.

As the team will be ascending very quickly to base camp, some pre acclimatization needs to be done. I am aiming to do that in my home town of Bruneck on the Dolomites over the weekend after next, sleeping in a tent for 2 nights at around 2,500 meters. It means I will have to do a long walk on the Friday night after work till I can finally find my bed for the night!

hello Wolfram. you remind me of what I think is one of the more prescient issues of this adventure:how are your bodies going to cope with the altitude. I hope all this planning pays off in the biggest way: that you all come home safely!

Preparations sound like they've been brutal at every turn, but so worth it. Only 14 days, are you all starting to feel a bit excited? I'm impressed by your teams problem solving to even get this idea off of the ground. Much respect.

I'm so stoked for you guys to head out for your mission. Thanks for keeping everyone updated. Impossible is nothing.

Keep the updates coming Wolfram and Bear! You have our interest here in Bethel, Maine. Will skiing play a more vital role in this misson, or is it just for your training purposes? Which do you prefer, skiing or riding snowboard? May God be with you guys...and your wives.
Jake Fisher (23/04/2007 03:50:00)
I will be actively praying for your teams safety and guidance as you embark on this stellar mission. May God bring you all peace and joy. Take care and God bless! In Christ, Jake

It is honestly the most exciting mission I have seen happening anywhere at the moment- though I have yet to watch Laird Hamilton riding the big surf on DVD. At least you guys should stay dry!

Hi.. I live in Alaska for a long time. I have been everywhere in Alaska and I love adventure. I'm also a pilot here. I think this is a great idea and really quite possible. I know you guys have the guts to tell your sponser no and your audience no when its a no go. That takes more guts than doing it in nasty weather.
