Gilo - update from base camp 10/5/2007
Mission Everest is now fully underway, it's so exciting to be up here in at just over 14,000ft in the foothills of Everest with all our equipment and the whole team together preparing for our first weather window. We've found the perfect location for our airstrip, on our doorstep is smooth grassy slope running directly into the
prevailing wind, we're clearing all the boulders and bushes at the moment making it a really safe runway and landing area.
Today we're setting up the engineering tents which is of course brilliant news for me. I can atlast start to re-assemble both the machines and check them over thoroughy before our first launch.
Of course, I'm praying hard that there should be no mechanical or electrical problems, if anything has been damaged on it's way up here into the mountains this is the time for us to find out. I've bought atleast one spare for practically every component on the engines so we should be well covered just incase.
The weather has not been great for flying since we arrived which is in fact great news for us as we have so much still to do in the way of prepartions. The great news is that in a few days on the 15th and 16th we are forecast a weather window and we will by then be completely set up and prepared for it!!

hi Gilo,
We were wondering where you guys are in relation to BC? I know that the area is pretty crowded there as summit attempts are in full swing. Hope all is well with parts and we will be sending our best wishes for the whole team!
Go for it safely!

Hello Bear,
Good luck and GOD speed to you all. What you are doing is fantastic we need more people in our country who have that dare-do attitude. When you get back to the U.K will you be giving any talks/lectures on this mission?
Michael Smith (12/05/2007 03:50:58)
Good luck!
Rogene Wagner (12/05/2007 03:50:58)
Gilo, If Kyle indicates he isn't sure what to get me for fathers day, a flight on one of your paramotors would be a fathers day to remember!
GKN's Mission Everest is history in the making. We can't wait to watch it unfold.
Has Kyle ask yet how to get started in this awsome adventure of paramotoring?
We're praying for the whole teams safety and success.
Jeff (12/05/2007 10:50:58)
