Testing the Mission Everest Parajet 11/1/2007

The Everest Parajet has spent all week hermetically sealed in a hypobaric chamber being tested at altitudes of up to 35,000ft. Every aspect of the machine can be remotely controlled from outside the chamber and every sensor monitored on a computer screen in the control room. Vital information can be found out about how the engine copes in such rarified air and we can program the onboard computer accordingly to understand what the engine requires. We now have the engine performing perfectly at up to 30,000ft and are now looking to increase the altitude by 5000ft before we’re completely satisfied. To achieve this we need to increase the speed of the supercharger from 150,000 rpm to 180,000rpm and then we’ll boost enough air into the engine to achieve sustainable cruise at 35,000ft…this is our ultimate goal!!! In the chamber control room…amongst the twelve data out put screens we have rigged up…are two which provide us with the really vital statistics….propeller thrust and fuel consumption…..in other words…can we physically carry enough fuel and is there enough air in the troposhere for us to keep flying. We’ve calcluated that there is…and we’ve got to prove that our calculations are correct???? There are some new photos added to the gallery of me testing in the chamber. Gilo

The technology behind this Mission is amazing. It is reassuring also to see the rigour of the testing being carried out. Everyone here at GKN is behind the team. Your pre-Mission role is critical to its success. We all want to see you achieve something extraordinary. Good Luck. Maureen
